The first event of 2025 was the inaugural Luke Freeman Darts Tournament, held on 26 February. Thanks to the Winnersh British Legion for the free use of the venue. I’m sure the bar taking were huge!

Thanks to the many people who joined us on the night, it was our first attempt so quite chaotic but after cash prizes and a donation to the Legion, we raised almost £200 for LukesWrld.

Thanks to Charlie Darby and all the others who helped us pull it together.

The next one is planned for February 2026, let’s make it bigger and better. More info to follow soon

This year’s Luke Freeman Memorial Football Tournament took place on Saturday 5 July at Goals. We only had 7 this year, a great day, congratulations to the winners, Ben Hardy’s team and the runners' up, fittingly, Freemans Orange.

Put 4 July in your calendars for 2026, there’s likely to be a change of venue to Cantley, but more information will follow in the new year. We’re considering opening it up to Bracknell Sunday League next year, so early registration is needed if you want to reserve your team’s place.

We always we had a bbq for Luke’s friend afterward and the usual chaos carried on into the evening.

In May, Menna and Nick set off to fill some gaps on the South West Coastal Path. They completed the 5 miles from the Blue Ball in Lynton down into Lynmouth then up the hill on the other side to Lynton vernacular station on the Friday.
Saturday completed the 12 miles from Barnstaple to Bideford, flat but can be a little boring at times. It was nice to walk with another person and we did partake of a tea stop in Instow.

Sunday was Laura’s birthday but before we could head to a nice restaurant for the evening in Bude, we had to walk from Hartland Quay to Morwenstowe to complete those 7 miles. Unfortunately after 4.5 miles, on the steep descent into Welcombe, Menna’s injury from last year caused her knee to give way and they had to give up for the weekend. Frustratingly that leaves some annoying miles to be completed around Westward Ho! and the last 2.5 miles from Welcombe to Morwenstowe, before we can declare Devon done, but after a summer of physio that’s going to have to wait until Spring 2026.

However another £160 raised, thank you for your donations!
